Ok I am guilty to the utmost highest power. I have been engaged for a year and three months and I have done very little planning towards my wedding. I looked at my computer today and I have 6 months left until my wedding day!!!! Ok BREATHE!!!! Maybe this will get my ass in gear????
Ok here is what I do have done. I realize it is all of the fun stuff to do and none of the practical stuff that really needs to be done, but hey its getting done... really it is.
1. Center pieces designed (all items have been bought and stored)
2. Hall is booked and deposit is paid
3. Guest List is getting made (about 1/2 of addresses inputted into data base)
4. Dress is ordered and half paid for
5. Wedding party chosen
I am sure there are many more things that I have done but those are the main ones. My mom and my sister were a great help in getting my ass in gear to get those things done. With them and my friend Michelle I got to pick out the most beautiful dress.
Ok here is the crux of the matter. I am great at making lists and stating what I want. BUT I seem to be terrible at actually executing the things that need to get done to get the things that I want. My mom even got me to make myself a list of things that I need to get done before they get home from Florida in March. So I guess I better get on it cause time is ticking and some things take time.
Throughout the days I will be posting to things that I like, things that I am going to do, things that I need to do, pictures of things that I have done, and general venting about how the process is going. The one thing that I hope is that just because I have always been a procrastinator doesn't mean that I will leave everything until the end this time. I CAN'T do that I WILL NOT do that to myself. That is my mantra now let's see if I stick to it.
I respect you more for not being 100% OBSESSED with your wedding (one of my coworkers talks about nothing OTHER than her wedding, and she works on planning it during office hours.... drives me nuts!)

Um, Blaire? Not to pick on you, but isn't blogging just another way to procrastinate?? ;) I do have to admit, I think you might just be the most ingenious procrastinator I have ever met, this is brilliant! :) Happy planning, I mean procrastinating!

Nadine thanks. I think that I can plan anything else but a wedding. Not a party planner. Lets talk anything else but wedding. You think I could plan it in a day??
ReplyDeletewoooo to procrastinators everywhere Kansas. I swear I will plan it in a day or maybe a weekend.
ReplyDeleteI procrastinated (as always!) and it was horrible because I realized how much of the little things I still had left to do like three days before! My suggestion is to make a big list on poster board of absolutely every little tiny thing that needs to be done. Add to it as you think of things and keep it where you have to look at it. It will seem overwhelming at first but it'll help you not forget and if you're anything like me it'll inspire you to do all those little things because it lets you cross something off without too much effort. Just a little hindsight advice from one procrastinating former bride to one procrastinating bride-to-be!
